The idea of courtyards is very important in Islamic architecture. Poets described courtyards as places resembling gardens of paradise. Traditional Uzbek homes are structures to have a garden as a center with the living premises surrounding it. In this particular barrette the garden into broken down into four essential parts, each smoothly transforming into another. The red parts represent gardens with blooming flowers while the blue parts are water fountains.
Part of the border and flower stems of the barrette were painted in liquid bronze, which will not fade with time. The barrette was covered with several layers of lacquer for shine and protection.
This barrette has 3 levels of metal clip adjustment. It can be worn by ladies with both thin and thick hair due to this adjustment feature.
