This silk Ikat scarf was hand dyed and hand woven in Fergana Valley of Uzbekistan using a centuries old technique of ikat weaving. The technique requires precision in tying and wrapping silk threads before dying in order to create a desired pattern. Number of times threads will be tied and wrapped depends on the complexity of ikat pattern and number of colors involved in the design.
Care instructions: dry clean only.
I was envious of the pillows in all the interior decorating magazines, and was disappointed to see that they were available through designers only. Imagine my joy when I found your website! I am sewing my own pillows out of the fabrics I received from you. I just finished new pillows for the bedroom and now will start on the living room. P.S. Also, your packaging is very "old world", please do not change it! I felt connected to a place in a different world when opening your package.
[Nilufar's response on July 7, 2008:] Irene, I lost a count of a number of postal officials I spoke to in efforts to use my own packaging. Alas, it is a government regulation in Uzbekistan that postal service packs all orders in the “old world“ fashion. Luckily, you are not the only one who loves the packaging not to mention that it is very “green“.
