Blue dome octagon shaped hand painted lacquer jewelry box
The octagon shaped box inspired by blue mosaics architecture of Samarkand and Bukhara.
The lacquer box is made of papier-mache and hand-painted in Uzbek traditions of ornamental lacquer painting. Please notice that the quality of the paper-mache is very high. It is durable and it is processed to have a smooth surface. The craftsmanship of each piece is extremely delicate, elaborate, and unique. The golden parts on the lid and on the sides of the box were created by applying a very thin golden foil to the surface of the papier-mache. The ornamentation was then painted on the foil.
Each box is signed and dated (2008) by an artist who made it. In this case, this is a work of Koshib Omonov.
Gift idea: we made and custom signed several of these boxes to be given as bridesmaids' gifts for a wedding in the USA.
