"Faith" jewelry box
''Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt''
- William Shakespeare
This box is made of paper-mache and hand-painted in Uzbek traditions of ornamental painting. Please notice that the quality of the paper-mache is very high. It is durable and it is processed to have a smooth surface (versus "wrinkly" surface). The box is covered with several layers of lacquer for shine and protection. The central golden part of the lid as well as the golden parts of the sides of the box were created by laying a thin golden foil and then painting on top of it. This particular box was touched with genuine gold leaf.
Each box is signed and dated by an artist who made it. In this case, this is a work of Koshib Omonov. This box is made of paper-mache which is processed to be very durable and to have a smooth surface (versus "wrinkly" surface). The flower stems of the decoration and borders are painted in genuine liquid bronze, which makes the colors more vivid. This was the last touch that's added to the box before covering it with several layers of lacquer for protection.
