"Ode to red wine..." jewelry box
This box is made of paper-mache and hand-painted in Uzbek traditions of ornamental painting. Please notice that the quality of the paper-mache is very high. It is durable and it is processed to have a smooth surface (versus "wrinkly" surface). The craftsmanship of each piece is extremely delicate, elaborate, and unique.
Each box is signed and dated by an artist who made it. In this case, this is a work of Koshib Omonov. The square shaped box is made of paper-mache which is processed to be very durable and to have a smooth surface (versus "wrinkly" surface). The flower stems of the decoration and borders are painted in genuine liquid bronze, which makes the colors more vivid. This was the last touch that's added to the box before covering it with several layers of lacquer for protection.
