Front side - ikat fabric, back side - solid handwoven fabric with a moire pattern

Boudoir size ikat pillow cover for which we used different fabrics on both sides.

One side is handwoven cotton and silk blend ikat fabric in a very intricate ikat pattern. For the reverse side we used also handwoven but mustard yellow solid cotton/silk blend fabric with a gorgeous moire pattern.

Using different fabrics for different sides of pillow covers is a wonderful technique. From decoration perspective this gives you sort of 2 pillow covers. When you need a pattern you can display ikat side. When you want to calm down your interiors, just turn the pillow around and have the solid side face the room.

Each pillow cover closes with a hidden zipper on a side. You can see this detain on a photo.

Decorating with boudoir ikat pillows

Boudoir ikat pillow covers are designed with a purely decorative purpose in mind. They are little decor objects which can totally transform a space. It is with these small accents like handwoven ikat pillow covers we add "spice" and interest to interiors. Interiors become even more interesting when objects have history. Our ikat pillow covers certainly come with a lot of artisanal history.

Ikat pillow covers and sustainability

Everything is relative and in today's world to be 100% sustainable is a true achievement. We can state that our ikat pillow covers are 100% sustainable but they are certainly ahead of the game compared to the rest of the textile and fashion industries.

- Cotton is locally grown in Uzbekistan.

- Silk is locally cultivated.

- These are artisanal hand woven products, hence, there is no machinery involved in producing these fabrics.

- Dyes used these days are mainly synthetic although fabrics dyed with natural dyes are also very common.

Abundance boudoir ikat pillow cover (solid back)

Silk scarves have long been an essential part of Central Asian women’s wardrobe. In older days they were a required part of an outfit. As dogmas evaporated and traditions changed scarves more and more have become a fashion accessory than a required cover up.

Uzbekistan is cradle of ikat making traditions and it is only natural that Ikat technique found its way from ikat fabrics, wonderful examples of which are presented in our fabric shop, to dresses and accessories such s scarves.

Sericulture and fashion scarves

Mulberry silk is a magical fiber with a lot of legends surrounding its origin. Historically clothes made of this luxurious fabric were available only to the royalty.

Cocoons feed on mulberry leaves and mulberry trees grow well in Uzbekistan. It is only natural that sericulture is wide spread in this region. Anything made with mulberry silk is a luxury accessory for two main reasons:

Firstly, it is silk which by itself is a noble fiber. It feels soft, has an elegant sheen to it, keeps you warm in cold weather and cool in hot days.  Secondly, in our case, it is not just silk fiber that’s unique. It is lustrous fiber paired with hand weaving technique. Sericulture is an artisanal tradition, the one that requires a great amount of care and patience.

Ikat scarves

Solid scarves

Ikat technique is taking accessories to the next level. Our ikats are authentic hand dyed and handloom woven ikat scarves. Ikat textiles take a great amount of precision in tying and dying the yarn to create a desired pattern.

Solid silk scarves have no pattern and they are very versatile accessories. They are elegant, natural, noble and timeless. Be it to add some chic to a corporate outfit, use it as a shoulder scarf for a wedding or even as a gift for someone special, solid scarves will make an unforgettable impression.

Long silk headscarf

Our scarves are long. This is why they can be used as silk headscarf to tie a colorful turban on your head or just as a head cover up. Have you ever been asked to cover your head before entering a historic religious site? This is when our scarves will come very handy. Our scarves make an irreplaceable and most loved travel accessories – they are lightweight, take a tiny space in your bag but can keep your head and neck warm should weather change unexpectedly.

“You don’t necessarily need diamonds and pearls and big statement jewelry pieces.

A lovely silk scarf can stay in your closet and be used for so many different things”

Jo Holley, Ex-Vogue Retail Editor and Fashion Blogger

Silk scarf for hair

Hair slides on smoothness of silk. Therefore, using this natural and soft fabric is less damaging to your hair.

Our scarves can be used as silk scarf for hair as a long luxurious bandana or a hair band. You can arrange your hair in a way that is both beautiful and practical.

Silk is lustrous fiber which helps regulate temperature, keeps your skin and hair moisturized and prevents tangles.

…and while we are at it, can we just throw another knockout scarf idea. Have you considered using embroidered fabric as a scarf?  Be it a salvaged piece of old suzani textile or a modern day embroidery, it will turn heads, flood you with compliments and be one of the most cherished accessories.
