Golden Background Round Floral Hand-Painted Lapel Pin

Silk scarves have long been an essential part of Central Asian women’s wardrobe. In older days they were a required part of an outfit. As dogmas evaporated and traditions changed scarves more and more have become a fashion accessory than a required cover up.

Uzbekistan is cradle of ikat making traditions and it is only natural that Ikat technique found its way from ikat fabrics, wonderful examples of which are presented in our fabric shop, to dresses and accessories such s scarves.

Sericulture and fashion scarves

Mulberry silk is a magical fiber with a lot of legends surrounding its origin. Historically clothes made of this luxurious fabric were available only to the royalty.

Cocoons feed on mulberry leaves and mulberry trees grow well in Uzbekistan. It is only natural that sericulture is wide spread in this region. Anything made with mulberry silk is a luxury accessory for two main reasons:

Firstly, it is silk which by itself is a noble fiber. It feels soft, has an elegant sheen to it, keeps you warm in cold weather and cool in hot days.  Secondly, in our case, it is not just silk fiber that’s unique. It is lustrous fiber paired with hand weaving technique. Sericulture is an artisanal tradition, the one that requires a great amount of care and patience.

Ikat scarves

Solid scarves

Ikat technique is taking accessories to the next level. Our ikats are authentic hand dyed and handloom woven ikat scarves. Ikat textiles take a great amount of precision in tying and dying the yarn to create a desired pattern.

Solid silk scarves have no pattern and they are very versatile accessories. They are elegant, natural, noble and timeless. Be it to add some chic to a corporate outfit, use it as a shoulder scarf for a wedding or even as a gift for someone special, solid scarves will make an unforgettable impression.

Long silk headscarf

Our scarves are long. This is why they can be used as silk headscarf to tie a colorful turban on your head or just as a head cover up. Have you ever been asked to cover your head before entering a historic religious site? This is when our scarves will come very handy. Our scarves make an irreplaceable and most loved travel accessories – they are lightweight, take a tiny space in your bag but can keep your head and neck warm should weather change unexpectedly.

“You don’t necessarily need diamonds and pearls and big statement jewelry pieces.

A lovely silk scarf can stay in your closet and be used for so many different things”

Jo Holley, Ex-Vogue Retail Editor and Fashion Blogger

Silk scarf for hair

Hair slides on smoothness of silk. Therefore, using this natural and soft fabric is less damaging to your hair.

Our scarves can be used as silk scarf for hair as a long luxurious bandana or a hair band. You can arrange your hair in a way that is both beautiful and practical.

Silk is lustrous fiber which helps regulate temperature, keeps your skin and hair moisturized and prevents tangles.

…and while we are at it, can we just throw another knockout scarf idea. Have you considered using embroidered fabric as a scarf?  Be it a salvaged piece of old suzani textile or a modern day embroidery, it will turn heads, flood you with compliments and be one of the most cherished accessories.
