Our collection of suzani embroidered pillow covers includes hand embroidered suzani pillow covers as well as machine embroidered ones. The base fabric of each suzani pillow cover is an undyed cotton cloth. Embroidery threads are hand dyed silk floss.
The term suzani derives from a Farsi word for a needle, ‘suzan”. According to Uzbek traditions girls learnt an art of suzani embroidery from an early age and embroidered various things for their dowries. These embroidered pieces were bedcovers, pillow covers and various other textile items. Soul finds its reflection in a work that the soul makes. This is why, one could read a character of a girl by inspecting her suzani. Is she joyous? is she peaceful? Does she pay attention to details?

As Is - Ikat in black and white boudoir pillow cover
The front of the pillow cover is made of a hand-dyed and hand-woven cotton / silk ikat fabric. For the back we used a solid hand-woven ikat fabric. The cover closes with an invisible zipper on a side and fits standard 12" x 16" pillow inserts.
This pillow cover is being sold “As Is“ because it has a small stain as shown below (greatly enlarged). In reality, the stain is noticeable only if you really inspect the cover for flaws. All sales of “as is“ products are final.
