Floral white pink green hand embroidered suzani pillow cover from Uzbekistan

Our collection of suzani embroidered pillow covers includes hand embroidered suzani pillow covers as well as machine embroidered ones. The base fabric of each suzani pillow cover is an undyed cotton cloth. Embroidery threads are hand dyed silk floss.

The term suzani derives from a Farsi word for a needle, ‘suzan”. According to Uzbek traditions girls learnt an art of suzani embroidery from an early age and embroidered various things for their dowries. These embroidered pieces were bedcovers, pillow covers and various other textile items. Soul finds its reflection in a work that the soul makes. This is why, one could read a character of a girl by inspecting her suzani. Is she joyous? is she peaceful? Does she pay attention to details?

Please also check out our Suzani embroidery section for some suzani table runners and suzani tableclothes.

Product Details
Fiber content: Cotton / silk blend
Care instructions: Hand wash in cold water
Dimension (inches): 12" x 16“
Dimension (cm): 31cm x 41cm

This is one and only pillow cover made of a combination of a traditional silk red bekasam fabric and a dark grey solid silk-like fabric - we do not know exact fiber content of the grey fabric (our apologies!), but we feel the fabric certainly contains some synthetic fibers.

Bekasam fabric is very durable. It is usually used to upholster traditional floor cushions. It is washable but the colors may bleed, hence, wash separately. The cover closes with an invisible zipper on a side and fits standard 12" x 16" (30cm x 40cm) pillow inserts.
