Zoom meetings by now have become a norm for many of us. They are our new meeting rooms and how we appear in those meetings is important. For myself I identified several things which make a Zoom video conferencing a pleasant one:
You need a quiet place without distractions
My neighbors have renovated their flat this summer. That drilling noise in the middle of a Zoom conference was extremely annoying. Kids screaming in the next room is not conducive to my Zoom productivity either. In general, I feel that home offices with good sound isolation will become a norm going forward, even after the pandemic. We have all realized by now how much time and money we save by working from home.
You need a good lighting
It makes a world of difference when you see your conference participants faces and their facial emotions clearly. That said, your face should be well lit. I discovered video conference lightings for remote working which are designed specifically for this purpose. One example of such lighting is Lumecube (they don’t pay us for this mention).
Your background should be interesting
A wall behind you is visible to other Zoom conference participants. It is important to keep that wall clutter free. However, leaving that wall blank would be boring. Make that wall unique! A painting will be very appropriate here, however, we can suggest a different form of a unique wall art too. How about framing handwoven artisanal Uzbek ikat fabrics?
Take a look at this photo by Simon Upton from 2006 Elle Décor edition. That ikat fabric panel on the wall is several widths of ikat fabric put together and framed in a wooden frame. That framed fabric sets a tone for the whole room, would you agree?
Depending on a mood you wish to create we can choose from several Uzbek ikat fabrics. I find “Bahtim ikat fabric” to be open and assertive, Blue ikat fabric to be conductive to a diplomatic (Zoom) talk and “Bayram” Uzbek ikat fabric to add passion and energy to whatever project you are working on.
Putting two widths of Uzbek ikat fabric together making sure that ikat patterns match – that service is on us. Should you have any questions, we are just a message away at [email protected].
