Many things happen during a lockdown. One way of breaking a routine was experimenting with table settings using red ikat bowls. This Covid-19 pandemic has come with one big positive and that is more cooking at home and eating healthier food. While cooking may sound like a routine chore, it can also be a creative act. An act which allows us to express our individuality and feelings, especially when it comes to serving the food. This is when we reached out for our vintage ikat bowls and a camera – more photos will come soon.
Setting up a table is all about creating a unique dining atmosphere. This is a way of taking dining to the next esthetic level. By serving healthy food in beautiful dishes using beautiful table decor we set everyone at a dining table in a festive mood.
May we suggest one simple way to dress up a table? Consider using vintage red Ikat bowls. Ikat bowls are already very unique and bright, we paired them with your basic patternless white china. Anthropologie brand revived this old Uzbek Soviet pattern about a decade ago. Ever since home decor magazines have been widely featuring these Ikat bowls .
Vintage:
What we offer you in our online store are the original Soviet hand painted Ikat bowls.
Each Ikat bowl was individually hand painted. As any hand work there are some irregularities in painting which you will notice in product images.
There is a stamp of Tashkent Porcelain Factory on each bowl from which we can tell that these bowls were made sometime between 1973-1991.
Although these ikat bowls have been mainly featured as decor objects they are very practical household items which Uzbeks use to serve food, usually soups.
As of time of posting this articles we have 10 red bowls in stock. There are also a few orange bowls available here. All bowls are in used condition.
