Ikat table runner perfect for Thanksgiving dinners

Yellow brown Uzbek Ikat table runner

This ikat table runner is something we have been planning to make for a long time.  We finally got around to making it. The idea was to make something that will go well with a pumpkin pie, cinnamon and nutmeg theme. In other words, in choosing this ikat fabric for a table runner Thanksgiving was already on our mind.

We like to keep things natural

The same is true for this Ikat table runner. We paired handwoven Uzbek Ikat fabric with an unbleached very natural cotton fabric. The goal was to have both fabrics organic, soft and pleasant to touch.

Easy maintenance ikat table runner

Some Ikat fabrics are washable, some are dry clean only. For this specific ikat table runner we used only washable fabrics. This way, you can use this ikat table runner for Thanksgiving and not worry about your guests staining it. We pre-washed ikat fabric to make sure that it is really washable – yes, it is! In fact we pre-washed both Ikat fabric and cotton fabric to have them shrink (since cotton has a tendency to shrink after washing) before we sew a final product.

Speaking of sustainability…

Cotton fibers used for making these fabrics is from Uzbekistan. Silk yarn is from Uzbekistan. Ikat fabric was made by artisans in Margilon, Uzbekistan. Unbleached cotton fabric was machine woven somewhere in Uzbekistan. This being said we are dealing with only locally made sustainable materials and processes..

This is a sample product which will be sold “as is” at a discounted price. Why “as is”? Because I had a miscommunication was a tailor. As a result one end of the table runner is 1 cm narrower than the other end. Please see the photo below. This is totally my fault but it is only human to err and divine to forgive 🙂
